Description

Join Playmakers at the 2024 Autumn Classic! This event is a treasured fall Mid-Michigan tradition for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.  Enjoy the brilliant fall colors as you walk or run around Lake Lansing!  There is something for everyone, including the:

• 8K run/walk

• 3K run/walk

• Free Kids' Fun Run (100m & 1/2 Mile options)

• Official timing and results

• Classic crew neck sweatshirt

• Refreshments, including hot soup!

• Charity Partner: Special Olympics Michigan Area 8

Location: The start and finish are in the beautiful Lake Lansing Park North, 6260 E. Lake Drive, Haslett. Rain or shine. Strollers and dogs on leashes are welcome.

Location: The start and finish are in the beautiful Lake Lansing Park North, 6260 E. Lake Drive, Haslett. Rain or shine. Strollers and dogs on leashes are welcome.

Times:

  • 8:30 a.m.— Free kids' run/walk
  • 8:45 a.m.— 3K walk
  • 9:00 a.m. — 8K run/walk

Packet Pick-Up:

Free Kids' Dynamic Warm-Up and Run: 8:30 a.m. — 1/2 mile fun run (12and under). 50-yard dash (6 and under). Medals for all finishers.

Divisions: 8K men’s and women’s: 14 and under; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54;55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80-84, 85+.

Special Awards: to overall, masters, grand masters, and the top 3 in each age division. The 3k walk is noncompetitive (no awards). 

Special Pricing: Family and student rates are available within the registration process.

Crewneck Sweatshirts

All participants will receive a classic crewneck sweatshirt! 2024 design coming soon!

8K Course Map

This year's 8K course follows much of the previous years' route, with  couple of small changes:

  • Participants will exit Lake Lansing Park North and turn left
  • To avoid construction in Lake Lansing Park South, participants will turn left off of Shaw onto the sidewalk along Lake Lansing Rd, eventually turning right onto the sidewalk along Marsh Rd

3K Course Map

Participants will turn RIGHT exiting Lake Lansing Park North and will continue along the shoulder of Lake Dr to Perry Rd, turning left to enter the side street Reynolds. Participants will exit the side street on Milenz and will cross Lake Dr to return to the park.

Virtual Event Info

Virtual Event Information:

The Virtual Autumn Classic continues this year. You select your own favorite road, trail and park to become your virtual 8K or 3K course! You can run or walk individually or with a team, you pick when and where!

All virtual participants will receive a crew neck sweatshirt and an official Autumn Classic bib which can be picked up in store at Playmakers, or shipped to you for $5.

Participants are encouraged to form Teams to complete the Virtual Autumn Classic together and celebrate as a group! After completing your virtual event, you can submit your time and any pictures to be posted on the Autumn Classic results page.

 

Charity Partner - Special Olympics

The Playmakers Fitness Foundation is proud to continue its partnership with Special Olympics Michigan Area 8 as its official charity partner. Special Olympics Michigan Area 8 has been the Playmakers Autumn Classic charity partner for almost 20 years!

The mission of Special Olympics Michigan is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  Athletes develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy while participating in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship among their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community. The athletes achieve their dreams with the support of caring volunteers, coaches, family members and staff. Donations from Michigan citizens and businesses provide funding for the program.

There is no need to register for the Race Series; just participate in the events listed on their website and earn points towards some sweet awards!
